Hnin Wai Hnin (they/them), was a poet, activist and kitty mama who stood for radical love and healing in our cruel and beautiful world. At age 31, they were diagnosed with a rare Leukemia that would progress despite two intensive bone marrow transplants and 1.5 years of grueling treatment.

In facing their terminal condition, Hnin was determined to live their final days with love, adventure and wonderment. With support from their community, Hnin, Aaron (spouse) and Khin (mother) would try fancy sushi in NYC, ride a gondola through Venice’s canals, and sip fresh coconut milk on the beaches of Puerto Rico. These life giving moment also become precious, everlasting memories for Aaron and Khin.

Hnin wished for others with terminal illness to find similar comforts at the end of their lives. Hnin's Die Living Legacy Fund will make small grants for terminally ill, working class activists to "treat themselves" and their loved ones - to die while living - in their final months of life.
